Two Decades

This isn't our house... it's the "common room" for guests at the Wild Iris Inn in La Conner, about 35 miles south of Bellingham.

Phil and I celebrated our 20th anniversary with a stay there last night, and the journey was part of the pleasure. After ten miles on the freeway, we exited and took a scenic, slower route through the countryside, going through small towns and enjoying the occasional glimpse of cattle grazing, oblivious to the rain.

The innkeeper gave us a complimentary room upgrade, which was a nice surprise. We enjoyed a candlelit dinner in "downtown" La Conner, on the banks of the Swinomish Channel, and wish the weather had been less wet, as there's a lovely walkway along the water that would have been enjoyable. I expect we'll be back in better weather!

I've been busy with Whatcom Chorale rehearsals and music learning, and Phil equally busy with his activities, so our time away, although brief, was a lovely respite.

(Thanks for all the stars and hearts for the cormorant pair -- much appreciated!)
