Looking Up.

Me & Mrs MD visited Blackburn Cathedral today - for the first time.  We were both very impressed. It's one of England's newest cathedrals. For many centuries it was the Parish Church of Blackburn and in 1926 it was raised to Cathedral status.  Work - and fundraising - began and the 'new' cathedral was finally completed in 1977.  Since then more remedial and conservation work has been carried out - and I think it is now an excellent cathedral - one of the nicest I have visited.  Well worth a visit.
My blip shows the view up inside the rather magnificent octagonal lantern tower.  My extra gives a view from Cathedral Close. Mrs MD has another view of the interior.
