Garden Guest

Mr Pheasant called for breakfast,
spurned our beans on toast,
Left while we were peeling 'taters,
didn't fancy roast.

It's the first time in years that a pheasant has visited our garden, but his presence didn't put off the smaller songbirds. They were all wolfing down sunflower seeds side by side. He circumnavigated the garden pond, but didn't stop to drink. Lovely to see his colourful plumage up close. My Extra shows off his tail feathers.

My maternal Grandpa would have been 129 today!
