On the way home from the cinema last night/earlier this morning it was cold enough for the week puddle at the bottom to be solid, but it would be all gone by the evening.
Blade Runner 2049 looked like it might run out of cinema shortly, so I determined it would be best to catch it this week. The evening before an early start on working day one was not ideal, but there were no conveniently-timed late-afternoon showings, even assuming I would have been able to leave as early as intended. It's very probably better than the original, though wouldn't quote work as a standalone, both from the point of view of the story and the built-up weight of the memory of the music. I hadn't known beforehand that the new one was shot by Deakins but the visuals were massively better than the original, even accounting for age.
