Eleven Spots

Until the last couple of days all the ladybirds in my garden have been the two-spotted variety, but now the eleven-spotted tribe have appeared. I found a cluster of them on a dead marigold. They ranged from a deep red to a very pale orange. This one was about half-way.

This has been yet another hot day, with the temperature approaching 30ºC. With all my sun damaged skin I have to keep out of the sunshine. Since sunscreen lotion makes my nose and throat scratchy I need to cover up from head to toe, or stay indoors for much of the day.
