Today is the first Sunday of Advent and the first candle in the wreath has been lit.

The four weeks of Advent are a time of preparation for the celebration of Christ’s birth.

One of the traditions associated with Advent is the wreath. This is adorned with greenery and candles, which are progressively lit during the four Sundays of Advent.
