Furry

No snow today for Flash and I for the morning walk. Wind had also dropped so was actually almost pleasant. Saw village "personality" Toni aka Bello, in the distance. Hardly a day goes by that we don't see him doing his rounds of his hunting area and other associated interests he has.

When we had finished the walk and were driving home we met him on the track and stopped to have a chat. In the back of the pick up a fox that he had just shot. A lovely looking fellow and with immaculate fur. Thank goodness the horrible mite infection known here as "Fuchsräude" which usually kills the fox within 3 months and is highly infectious particularly for dogs and was present a few years ago, seems to have gone. Poor animals look dreadful when they have it, their fur falls out in bunches.

Toni said he had shot a fox just next to our house last night. Didn't hear a shot. He is the official hunter for two sides of our triangular property. He also asked if we had seen "Knickohr" deer who normally lives on the third, forest, side of the property but sometimes ventures on to his patch. He said he hadn't seen her for a while - he knows she is "off limits"! I reassured him she had been at the house recently.

Rest of the day very boring but Angie did a wonderful roast pork and bread dumplings dinner. Boy was the crackling good and not a single broken tooth - it was too light and airy!
