First Friday Friends

Oh what a day. Took me nearly three times as long to get to work due to traffic. (The auto type proposed “trafficking” but I felt “traffic” was more appropriate!)

Straight into a senior team meeting until 13:10 (with some business unfinished) then immediately into a meeting with the Principal Reporter and our Head of Digital; then straight into a phone conversation with former colleague Alison Gough preparing for next week’s secure care work stream meeting.

Said hello for 30 seconds to our new recruitment and retention officer; signed a few letters then out the door to drive to my next meeting (during which I tried to chase up social work about my aunt’s care package: hope for a phone call tomorrow).

Quick bite at home then off to visit my aunt who gave me a great hug as she’d heard the request I’d put in for her last night which was played this afternoon on Classic FM.

Then off (late) to Kirk Session.

Towards the end of the meeting reference was made to the First Friday club. This is a group formed in 2015 to support people whose lives are affected by memory loss or dementia and those who care for them.

One of the group will be 100 on Hogmanay and as a treat, while the weather was better, she was driven across the new Queensferry Crossing. ..... on a motorbike. Her comment at the end was whether her hair was alright. So good to hear of the support being offered to the 15 or so who may attend.

At the end of the meeting these window decorations were pointed out - made by the First Friday group at their most recent meeting. Home by 9:30. A full but satisfying day.
