Lapwing in flight

Last night I went to a great pub session when I enjoyed playing with other musicians. I got in a 1.00 am so I think I'm due for an early night tonight!

This morning I went to Wood Lane Nature Reserve, Ellesmere with the U3A Birdwatching group. We were lucky to have two sightings of a kingfisher perched and flying. Too far away for a decent photo but lovely to see.

It was also great to see several hundred lapwings whirling about the sky and perched on the islands. It's sad that they are such a rare sight in the countryside these days.
