One Crowded Hour

the bells, the bells..

A huge day with junior and our neighbour's daughter E who is the same age.

Two ferry trips, scooping jelly fish out of the Swan River (and returning them I have to say), collecting some of the THOUSANDS of ladybirds 'getting jiggy with it' on the river beach (must have been a ladybird rave). picnic and the highlight (for me anyway) some time at the Bell Tower on the river in cbd Perth.

A bell ringer was in residence so we all got to have a go at bell ringing, made all the more thrilling by the fact that perhaps the whole city was listening to the efforts (and we have a certificate to boot.)
The Bells are actually from St Martin-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square, well twelve of them are, and six others were specially cast to complete the ring of 18.
Downstairs in the lobby of the tower are these Tubular Bells which, being of that generation, make me think of Mike Oldfield, that music, that very cool album cover and being at uni.
