Nevermore

For the third day in a row I walked down to the Parliament very early because of commitments that were due to start before 8.00 am.

It was a stormy morning but as I came down to the lights at Abbey Mount I heard a persistant noise which I eventually identified as the call of a raven. It seemed almost mechanical but as I listened I realised that it could be the word “nevermore”, and the gothic image (echoes of Edgar Alan Poe) that I managed to take of the bird high up in the tree just confirmed the matter.

I wasnt sure that ravens were around in this part of Scotland but , checking later, there is ample evidence of them in Holyrood Park which is just down the road.
