A Start

This is one of my favorite Yule ornaments. It's a Scandinavian paper ornament, unbreakable and very lightweight, which I hang from the light fixture over our dining table.

We almost always use candles, as well as that light fixture, dimmed so the candles shine out, when we have dinner. Even a very simple meal is enhanced by candlelight, and we're having plenty of such meals, as I've been wrapped up in Whatcom Chorale rehearsals for our "Messiah" concert on December 17 and for our appearance in the second half of Whatcom Symphony Orchestra's December 10 concert, in which we'll be singing a new work written for us by local composer Scott Henderson, "A Thrush in Winter." The words are from a sonnet by Edmond Holmes (1850-1936), and the music is marvelous!

In between, I'm trying to get holiday cards out -- we need to keep the U.S. Post Office going! -- and gather gifts for family and friends.

I'm woefully behind with your journals, but look forward to a slower pace of life later this month and time to catch up with them!
