Waterhead, Ambleside

I left Beaconsfield around 0700 as I was keen to get home after a couple of days away. The drive north was fairly straightforward until Birmingham where it was snowing quite heavily.

Further north though the snow stopped, skies cleared and sun came out. Lovely. At Carnforth, I glanced across to the distant Cumbrian fells and saw them silhouetted white against the blue sky. The sight of the fells is always lovely, even when I have been away only a short time.

We ventured into the lakes this afternoon for a blip and ended up at Waterhead.

No 2 son phoned this evening - he had enjoyed the graduation - and the Ball that evening. He was glad to be getting on with the next part of the course. It started today and they had all been given large aviation manuals to study! Pressure on again.

Extra shows the central fells.
