Perfection

After some more overnight snow I had to scrape the car again this morning in order to take Mrs M down to the train on her way to Glasgow. Fortunately the salt on the drive is still working from yesterday! We had a few flurries of snow this morning, but nothing significant so I drove up to Pulpit Hill, one of Oban's well-known viewpoints, to see what Mull was looking like - it was obscured by cloud yesterday.

It was looking wonderful, so that's my Blip today. In the extreme foreground is one of the houses on the edge of Oban, followed by a glimpse of the Sound of Kerrera, followed by the island of Kerrera itself with the dark cliffs and what looks at first glance like a small lighthouse on an islet, but is in fact a passing gull! In the back ground is the island of Mull, with the massive bulk of Dùn da Ghaoithe covered in snow. This mountain, at 2,513ft,  dominates the eastern end of Mull - the Gaelic name means 'the fort of two winds'. It's the second highest mountain on Mull after Ben More. I later drove round to Ganavan beach to see what the views were like, but this was still my favourite picture of the day.
