Snow picture

We were in Finland earlier this year.  The temperature was typically -20C, there was thick snow, with a fresh fall most days.  However, aircraft continued to take-off and land, cars and lorries continued to travel and life continued uninterrupted.

However, in Britain, snow conditions are relatively uncommon - so we are not properly prepared for them.  We had our heaviest snowfall for several years in this part of the country - I reckon about 3.5 inches - but the temperature was only around freezing.  Nevertheless, traffic was at a standstill in many areas (and struggling on most roads);  some airports were closed and at others there were many cancellations.  There is a risk of schools being closed tomorrow even here in the south of England.  What a contrast!

But there were lots of people out this morning enjoying the transformed scene.  Dogs were frolicking (I saw one 6 month old puppy confused by meeting his first snowman), and children were out playing.  Parents were taking photographs of their kids.

It all looked lovely.  But I hope it goes soon!
