Coot parent and adolescent.

Another beautiful sunny lunch break and I took the opportunity to stroll round the lake in St James Park and watch the ducks. I love coots. Never really thought much about them until I started working in London and realised that as chicks they are tiny balls of black fluff with near adult sized feet, completely out of proportion. Very cute and funny. Now I'm quite fond of them. No chicks until next spring now but I noticed this year's almost grown up chicks - now adolescents.

On a more depressing note I can see that we'll soon be walking home in the dark. No more beautiful sunsets. I don't like dark winter mornings and evenings, particularly when I don't have a choice about going out!
