Roque Agando

On this hot sunny day we left early for a walk starting in the Garajonay National Park area. We were quickly walking in the ancient woodlands surrounded by old Heather trees and Laurel. We climbed down into the gorge and then up and out into the hillsides. Everywhere there was the sound of birdsong. We eventually came out above the villages of upper and lower Arure both of which had reservoirs with only a small amount of water present. These dry conditions were reflected in the fact that not many crops were growing in the terraces, see extras.

We returned back to our starting point and then drove to a lookout point on the way back. Here there were wonderful atmospheric views across the mountains to Tenerife with low mists swirling around. There was also a great view of Roque Agando. Also in extras is a view looking towards La Palma from the start of our walk.

Yet another great day of walking with wonderful views. Even managed a swim on our return.
