A time for everything

“The reason for the season!”

Sunday
Our usual morning at church, where I took this shot of the beautifully decorated altar area and nativity scene. We only had three altos in choir this morning, and we were struggling a bit in places, but I guess it sounded OK overall. Mid afternoon we went to a concert at Knox Presbyterian Church in Hyde Park. They have a very good large church choir and do a couple of big presentations a year, accompanied by orchestra, one in Spring and the other during Advent. Today’s performance featured a selection of works, ranging from Bach’s Magnificat, through a Respighi choral work to the contemporary Estonian composer, Arvo Part. As is often the case, at these sort of events, one of the flautists in the orchestra was Laura’s former flute teacher, so we had a chat with her after the concert, trading news about our respective offspring! Afterwards, we came home and got a few jobs done, then Roger took me out for dinner.
