He came!

It was a very dark, cold morning, with sleety rain falling, so we were very surprised when the tree surgeon turned up with his mate! They were both well wrapped up with thick waterproofs and fur hats, and soon got to work. It was a wonder they could see what they were doing, it was so gloomy! They cut a substantial amount off the crown of the holm oak which will allow more light into the garden (and fewer leaves for Normous to dispose of!). They also trimmed the magnolia grandiflora. By the end of the day they were very wet, but still cheerful. The pile of cuttings (see extra) were soon shredded and they were glad to set off home for a hot bath!
At the end of the afternoon there was a brief sunset, ( another extra.)
I stayed inside in the warm, and at last finished writing my Christmas cards.
I phoned my sister for her birthday, She has recently started working part time and was pleased not to have to go into work today.
