Castle Hill Peak and the Gap

I went to Christchurch to do my grocery shopping. It took me ages to come home because the mountains were so magnificent I kept stopping to take another photo. They really are at their best at present, with the spring snow and a high sun that shines down on them throughout the day. In winter the sun is low and the mountains are just pale silhouettes for most of the day.

In large you can see possible avalanches. A long one on the flank of Castle Hill Peak, and smaller ones below the Gap.

After my big day yesterday I rubbed herbal cream on my stiff joints, took a couple of paracetamol, and went to bed early. I slept soundly for six hours and then the good effects wore off. I could have done with two more hours.
