One shoe off, One shoe on.......

This slipper which did adorn
A creature small and stylish,
Now lies alone and forlorn
On pathway cold and cheerless.

We passed it en route to check out heating alternatives to a cold miserable Christmas should our boiler pack in totally.

At the moment we can start it by manually increasing the water pressure which gradually falls below the level at which the boiler can operate. So far the maintenance engineers on 4 visits have replaced most of the boiler parts without rectifying the fault, but say there must be a water leak somewhere .

Their ultimate solution is to shut down the boiler for 2 days and lift the floor to find a possible leaking water pipe. With this ghastly scenario on the cards, we hiked to Morningside to check out heaters in the well stocked iron mongers there.
The trouble is we need something more than 3kws to heat the space and there were none fitting the bill.

As would happen if we were offered major exploratory surgery for a questionable health diagnosis, we have a second opinion booked for next Monday. If this opinion tallies with the first, then not only will our Christmas turkey be cooked, but so will our goose!
