Twelve Tales of Christmas

Tom Chaplin's show at the Royal Festival Hall this evening was the best concert I have been to in a long long time. When I first heard he was bringing out a Christmas album I was sceptical to say the least - it just seemed too cheesy. However, the album is great and hearing the songs live, with Tom's voice the best I've ever heard it, multiplied their strength many times over. Add to that three songs from his 'The Wave' album, four Keane songs (including 'Somewhere only we know' for which Keane drummer Richard Hughes took over on the drums), an amazing mash up of 'White Christmas' and 'Live and Let Die', and additional strings and a small choir for many of the songs, the resulting experience was truly magical. This photo shows Richard on the drums in the background.
