The running of the deer ...

... in the Wood of Doune. Decided a woodland walk would be sensible given the ice on all but the main roads and pavements. How wrong we were. Needed the leki poles for balance on the very slippy paths. Sheet ice everywhere and much skiting about. Good to get out in the lovely frosty air though (see extra) as we’re forecast to have much milder, wet and windy weather for the next week or so. These deer took off at the first sight, sound or scent of us and even at full zoom I couldn’t really get them.

Last night went well with over 20 friends and neighbours dropping in for mince pies. Ages ranged from 3 weeks to 70+ years and there was much merriment.

This evening sees another advent window open house, along the road, for a bowl of soup and a glass of fizz. Then it’s on to the traditional Christmas Songbook. We’ve been going to this concert for at least 10 years now. Mainly in Edinburgh but last year for the first time here in Stirling. Our Edinburgh-based Songbook companions are currently in Melbourne so it’s back to the Albert Halls in Stirling tonight. We know all the songs, carols and jokes. It’ll be a great night.
