Auction winner with Mersey Belles & Pete Moss

What a lovely day all round. As it was a sparkling morning we went to the north Kent coast for a long walk along the seafront between Tankerton and Herne Bay, enjoying the long reaching views, the seas and birds.

After a coffee and a browse around Herne Bay market we walked back then drove on to Macknade’s Farm Shop where we had one of their sharing platters of cheeses and deli meats. This has become one of our Christmas “traditions” a walk in a sparkly day followed by platters at Macknade’s although we didn’t do it last year as the weather didn’t play ball. We could have done with just a little note bread and cheese for the price - or buy our own platter for one next time.

We arrived back just in time to go out again for the Headcorn Ukulele Great Christmas Bash. And what an evening. Last year was superb with s bar and exceptional buffet and we were expecting the same this year. No bar and no buffet so we had to hot foot it to the local shop for supplies. I booked online, not looking at the poster and the e-tickets said nothing about food or drink.

Nonetheless, we had an inspirational evening. A mass strum of Christmas songs followed by the Mersey Belles duo who were exceptional, then by the incomparable Pete Moss who blew us away with his astounding playing. The evening ended with another mass strum of the remaining Christmas songs.

You might expect today’s blip to be of the sparkly coastline and it was until late in the day when I had the opportunity to sneak a snap of the winner of an auction for a signed Ukulele with the aforementioned Mersey Belles and Pete Moss.
