just peachy...

...and it's stone fruit season.
YUMMMMM.
Originally a native of China  and introduced to Europe  when transported along the Silk Road to Persia and from which came the original name 'Persian apple' from the Latin malum persicum  then persica then peach.

Surely a peach should be slightly fuzzy?
Not only useful, it keeps the bugs at bay...fussy little critters don't like the fuzzy tickle on their tummies!...and reduces evaporation within the fruit.
BUT fuzz is seemingly a no go with the punters!
WHAT???
Supermarket peaches are often de-fuzzed and according to orchard stall owner Marissa they are now being bred to be fuzz free!
Crazy...a fuzz free peach is a nectarine!

Thankfully market peaches are there in all their fuzzy and sometimes imperfect glory.

Anyway...as well as slurping straight into a warm, juicy, summer scented tree ripe peach they will sprinkled with ground  black pepper that pops the peachiness (oh and perhaps grilled with cumin or sweet paprika).
More YUMMMMM
