Moulds

I went to Middleport Pottery today. The home of Burleigh ware. It's not far from where I live and a place I've planned to visit for a while. These are moulds which would be filled with slip (runny clay), and then the whole thing fired. The mould would then be removed to leave the pottery figure intact.

There was a Victorian Christmas event on, with stalls and even carols accompanied by the North Staffs Accordion Club! What I did like were the artists studios where you could watch the potters at work.
