Devil’s Point

This absolutely stunning view of Devils point was enjoyed at Cape Schanck. New warning signs told us to look out for extremely venemous black snakes but we didn’t see any. Somewhat prudently I decided against a bush wee! The sun shone and it was a truly awesome day on the Mornington Peninsula, SE Melbourne.

We began our tour at Arthur’s Seat, which itself offered stupendous views of the rugged coastline and of Phillips Bay and back to the city. The gardens were interesting; filled with a wide variety of (many unknown to me) plants & trees. The boys climbined the kind open arms of a magnolia. We spotted a big lizard & bull ants about 4cm long with huge pincers. I took a macro shot but sadly I’ve no extras left to use.

Cape Schanck was next including a steep boardwalk descent through a mix of lava rock, and lava bomb-studded limestone to a beach of smoothed weathered stones. We sat mesmerised by the waves crashing around the promentary and over rock pools for quite some time.

Last stop was Dromana Beach for a toe dip, paddle or full swim. The desire to submerge in cold water appears to have an inverse relationship with age! Harris obviously was the keenest which was just as well after Anthony completely buried him in the sand.

It was our last night at Maura & Nick’s so we finished off a super day by sharing a meal at Piccolo in Kensington.
