17:20 in Bavaria

Central buzzing marketplace in the Market Town of Ottobeuren. The pavements are still not rolled up as the Chemists has to stay open until 18:15. I think lights off at 19:00.

You can look at the Marketplace WebCam - it is colour during the day. It is as good as a Live Cam, the (5 min delay) photo being updated every 5 seconds or so. The fact that the picture doesn't appear to change is solely down to nothing happening and nobody moving.

This hectic is not due to last minute Christmas panic shopping, it's like this 365 days a year.

Ottobeuren only does white street lights. Not sure if a shop has been bold enough to put a red light in their show window. Anne's Bike Shop (extra photo) has gone overboard with the "Xmas" decorations. The shop is a bit hidden from the main thoroughfare so I guess they hope it won't be spotted.

The marks all over the photo are from the very fine drizzle that has plagued us all day and led to all the snow disappearing. No chance of a white Christmas here but rest assured those heading in to the hills, the skiing will be good.

Had just done a good evening dog walk nearby having wasted all day getting more and more uptight about the UK. Words now fail me so I won't comment further. It is Christmas and the time of Peace to all ....

All those travelling around the world to their family and loved ones, have a safe journey. Prompted by the post from HTP and RedFlash who tries to bring a bit of love and warmth to the homeless throughout the year,   my thanks to all those giving up their time, especially at this time of year, to help those in difficult times. Remember it is often what you can't see that is causing them problems, so don't judge them by "the clothes".
