The Edge of the Wold

Tidal textures

This was taken on the way home, from almost exactly the same place as Tuesday's, but it's a different stage in the tidal cycle, and the sun is higher. Here the sun above the photo frame was just breaking through a gap in the cloud, illuminating the distant mudflat and bleaching the seascape of colour. And there's my friendly gull flying across.

A late blip tonight, we have been out to a storytelling night in Brigsteer Village Hall. We didn't really know what to expect, the visiting teller looked quite unassuming. But he performed an extraordinary tour de force, telling tales from the 17th century Pentamerone, while improvising and embellishing with modern asides. He spoke for 75 minutes without a break, and without a note. It was his first performance of the tales, his name was Tim Ralphs, and if he performs anywhere near you, you must go to see him. He may not be travelling much beyond the north of England though!
