Rain Drops

Today there was a little rain and a welcome drop in the temperature- 30º to 11ºC.

The garden bumblebees (Bombus hortorum) have arrived. Like the fruit ripening they are 2 or 3 weeks earlier than usual. The large garden bumblebee and the earth bumblebee numbers had dwindled almost to nothing, so it’s good to have their frantic buzzing. These bees were introduced because the length their tongues could pollenate crop flowers that the short tongues of the earth bumblebees could not.  See extra shot.
