The Future

So Christmas has been and gone, anticipation, the joy of giving, the sharing and love of family, friends and, if you're lucky, community.
We had a sort of 'adult' Christmas, nice conversation and getting to know LBF's parents and Nan, no squeals and obvious sugar highs (until yours truly tried to sleep!). Silly card games but no one having tantrums or huffs!
So now the next big calendar event is the year's turning, past and future ...
We took a walk along the canal at Lichfield this morning which brought on all this philosophical musing. This route initially opened in 1841 and closed in 1949, 100+ years of working history transporting coal from the Birmingham coal fields. It became defunct and partly destroyed by open cast mining; but the wheels grind on, no more coal fields to service but instead, the canal is being reborn, largely for leisure activities. The blips show the restoration in progress, one empty of water and another filled. It'll be lovely when complete ... They even built an aquaduct for it when the M6 (Toll) was constructed - there's serious future planning for you!
I miss the energy of Christmas past but it has given me the calm of Christmas present. I look forward to Christmas future. Nothing is more certain than Change, as they say! Bring it on!!!
