A good start to the day (but not the end)

Today started really well with a  beautiful clear sky and crisp cold weather.

We struggled up Hopegill Head through deep snow to complete our Wainwright tally of the North Western Fells.  It was really nice and we were doing really well until about 1km from the bottom when Jane took a fall on some rock scree and couldn't walk.

We had to call the Mountain Rescue who came out from Cockermouth.  It was a very cold 40 minute wait but in retrospect was incredibly fast.

About 15 rescuers appeared and after splinting her left ankle and stretchering her down she was despatched to Whitehaven hospital by ambulance.  (See extra)

It transpired that she had broken her ankle and she is now back home in a plaster cast feeling rather sorry for herself.

Im glad to report that in true Blip Style her first question after falling was "Have I damaged my camera?"

I am sure she will add to this report
