The Edge of the Wold

An afternoon out

We ventured further beyond Arnside into the Lake District this afternoon. We had lunch at Wilf's, then headed for a walk around Rydal Water. Everyone else had the same idea, on this beautiful mid-Winter day the Lake District was full. I've rarely seen so many people and cars there, but then we do normally avoid Bank Holidays and weekends.

Still, it was worth it to see the lake reflecting the bright colour of the low sunlit bracken on the fellside, and the contrast between sunlit and shaded slopes as the sun quickly set behind the mountains.

A big thank you to everyone who commented and left stars and hearts on Gus's 5th anniversary blip. He's much too modest to let it go to his head.
