My second Amaryllis has just begun to open its beautiful bud this morning, just at the right time for Flower Friday!

I have to tell you more about Aphrodite, for this is the name of this beautiful bloom!

Aphrodite is the ancient Greek Goddess of love, desire and beauty. She is identified with the Planet Venus, named after the Roman Goddess!

Aphrodite, apart from her natural beauty, also had a magical girdle that compelled everyone to desire her!
