The Pelly

I’m still blipping a day behind. Thought I’d catch up in the car but no signal...

It was a cloudy, humid & heavy day, so a leisurely start for us and some more gcse revision for Tony. Tbh these short concentrated bursts have probably been more productive than him prevaricating for a full week at home.

After lunch we took a 3 hour wildlife boat trip around the flatland waterways, from Lakes Entrance to Kings Lake.

Light rain was forecast, the boat was full and there was much boat traffic on the water, it being peak season, so our hopes were not very high.

We were therefore surprised and delighted to see countless Black Swans, Great Black Cormorants and many Pelicans; several Fur Seals; a few Pied Oyster Catchers; two separate small pods of Burranan Dolphins and 2 pairs of White Bellied Sea Eagles. The Sea Eagles were a little distant but this Pelican landing amused me.

It was a terrific trip, with tons of information from the knowledgeable skipper and a fresh cream scone as well.

Tony suggested crazy golf afterwards which was very funny. So all in all a very good day finished with a quiet evening in the apartment.
