Hanging by Laser

I spent much of the day helping to hang photographs by Bob Carnie and his wife Laura for an exhibition at the Valley Photo Center in Springfield Mass. Bob is from Toronto, and he brought along his installer, with a laser which he is using here. It projects a horizontal red line with a vertical (they cross in the upper right of the image--have a look in large).

Bob does black and white images of everyday objects, many of them solarized. Laura takes color shots using a Holga plastic camera, which give her images a somewhat dated effect but nonetheless impressive. They are mainly of fairs and amusement parks, often including children. I had never experienced such an expert and extensive installation--84 prints altogether--and it was very stimulating experience.
