Lindisfarne on Boxing Day

Christmas backblip 3

A beautiful winter's day, cold and crisp, so we packed a picnic and spent most of the day on Lindisfarne. Fabulous views of the snow-covered Cheviot Hills as we travelled there and back.
We walked from the main car park to the castle, which is undergoing extensive conservation work. The scaffolding is really quite impressive! Then a quick look at the Gertrude Jekyll Garden before walking by the 'works of art' on the headland and over to the lime kilns.

We ate our lunch perched on the rocks looking across to Bamburgh Castle, a fabulous spot, and then continued around the island and back to the car.

One of those very rare days when there are too many photos to choose from when it comes to blipping! Hence the extras...
