Diary of an Edinburgher

Three handsome chaps

Made it to the gym, spurred on by the thought that it'll be closed for a couple of days. Turns out everyone else thought that too - the place was mobbed, even the weights room.

I started with my ten minutes on the cross trainer. I say ten minutes, but actually it's three minutes, then two minutes backwards, followed by a minute's rest, then repeat. Not so impressive.

JR went off shopping, and Archie and I went round to the Links with the remains of his frisbee, which was well and truly wrecked in our session, and dumped in the bin on the way home.

But who should we meet on the way there, but his pals Brian and Bert who live just round the corner. Couldn’t resist a photo.

Later we met up with Rufus and his mum to go to the early session at the local (dog friendly) restaurant. Decorated, as last year, in gold streamers, so it looked gorgeous. And - very important - they had great music. Laid back jazz, Nina Simone, Frank Sinatra etc. Perfect. We left them to get ready for the next onslaught for the up-to-midnight shift.

Rufus and Archie are keen to go and see the fireworks, but I doubt that I’ll make it. Seen it all before. Besides, it's SO cold out there.

Happy New Year everyone!
