Diary of an Edinburgher

Loony Dook!

Archie and I watched last night's fireworks on TV, while JR popped out to the street with Rufus and his mum to see and feel them - they're so close.

The day dawned a perfect one for a swim - 7°, weak sun, no wind. Not for me - for all the daft folk who participate in the Loony Dook (are we allowed to call it that nowadays?) all over Scotland.

We went to Porty because it was the closest, and Janet, Bailey's mum was a dooker. And in fact, she went in THREE TIMES!

It was not as organised, or as crowded as other events, but good fun, lots of dogs, a lovely sandy beach, with plenty of cafes and wee catering vans to choose from afterwards.

Archie had a great time, running between us through the crowds - he'll run miles for those liver muffins! We found Bailey, while her mum Janet was in the sea, but I’m glad he was looking the wrong way right way when this vision emerged from the sea. Once seen, cannot be unseen.

Happy New Year to one and all!
