Tickletank Open Garden

Today the Rower and I visited an Open Garden in his home town of Mt. Barker in the Adelaide Hills.

The garden surrounded an old water tank (built in 1944) which the now owner bought and converted into a home for herself. It really is the most unlikely of places. the block is tiny and steep, but she has done the most amazing job. She is an artist, sculptor and gardener, and everywhere you look there are examples of her work.

As an artist she has a real flair for decoration, and she also very kindly opened the house up for us to see inside. The atmosphere was peaceful and charming, and blip opportunities abounded.

We both took hundreds of images, and I really think that some of them will end up being blogged when we have time. In the meantime, I chose this image for Blip. She made the stained glass herself, and had the builder cut out shapes in the wall of the tank so she could install them.

Underneath the windows, you will see some of her eclectic arrangements. The whole place is whimsical, stunningly beautiful, and I could live there in a heartbeat.
