One minute before

The day built up nicely. The last walk of the year along the Water of Leith to Currie and back. A quick trip to Dobbies for lunch and a browse (and to buy some half price lights). A quick turnaround ready for an early dinner at a Miller and Carter Steak House which was very good indeed.

The final event was to travel into the City to watch the New Year fireworks. This is the one thing I’ve been wanting to do in the 20 years I’ve been coming up to Edinburgh and tonight was the night. We didn’t go to the Street Party, instead we went into a pub for a drink and to keep warm until a few minutes before the Bells. We watched the fireworks with crowds of other people outside the Caledonian Hotel in the West End. And very good they were too, but you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see the blip and learn about how the rest of the night panned out.

Happy New Year everyone.
