.....and one minute after

Watched the fireworks herald in the New Year. Great atmosphere in the crowd outside the Cally Hotel, singing, dancing with a sea of mobile phones recording the superb display.

From outside the Cally we walked along part of Princes Street and up into George Street to enjoy a cocktail in the George Hotel.

Joined a good natured crowd, some unsteady people and many girls not dressed for the cold night back towards Haymarket to catch the bus home.

We arrived at about 2.45am famished so demolished toast, cheese, crackers and tea before eventually retiring to bed at around 3.30am. Didn’t wake till 10.30 though.

It was then all hands to the deck to get ready for the traditional New Year’s Day lunch of Steak Pie, Swede and Mash with all the family and their children. Played a game or two with the children milling around. They’ve gone now and I think I’ve gone deaf because I can’t hear any noise.

We rounded the day off with a late evening walk around the Balerno loop, cold, moonlit, icy and slippery with the moonlight glittering and glinting on the frozen pavements.

A very happy and healthy new year to you all.
