Early morn and a golden sunrise,  
A vault of cobalt sky from the Cascades to the West Hills.
Hummingbird whirrs to the top of a winter tree two floors below
While crows plying air thick with light fly toward the future.
Inside, there's laughter and a cup of tea.
A propitious beginning.
