A train journey in the snow

It was snowing heavily again this morning when we woke up, and the forecast was for this to continue all day. We decided to drive to Davos and after a walk there go for coffee at my favourite cafe, Kaffee Klatsch, and then see how the day developed.

We had only driven a few minutes up the road when we were turned back by the police, as they were only allowing 4X4 vehicles or cars with chains on their tyres to drive up the pass to Davos. Consequently we decided to get the train to Davos, which is a very scenic route winding up the mountain with incredible views, and in hindsight it should have been our first choice of travel, as it is a lovely experience.

We had a good walk the length of the town and just as we were more than ready for coffee/lunch we arrived at the cafe to find it was closed for renovations! We found another place to have something to eat and then we got the train back home again. I therefore wanted an image of a train for today's blip so we went to a spot where one gets a good view of the train and waited for it to come along. I have also added an extra of a night time shot taken hand held (as I don't have a tripod with me) on New Year's eve when it was such a clear night, and I think it turned out rather well. I have also added one of Bianca on our walk today.

The heavy snow conditions are set to continue for the rest of the week, so I am not sure if we will get any more skiing done. Adam did race training up the mountain today and half the runs were closed due to high winds, and the other mountain was closed for the whole day. It really is a case of too much snow this year!
