Not Giving Up
First day back at work in 2018. Up early, out early and at work for 7. It's kind of important to set the tone for the year to come.
I'm glad I went early, because that meant I could get away early to help my German teacher with her latest batch of technical problems. Her mobile had stopped ringing. It will do that if you've turned the volume off. And so it went on. No problems really, just struggling with German instructions after a long day digging in to other stuff I have to do.
I was feeling quite chuffed as I caught the my-God-it's-on-time Bus home. And as I was in the bus I thought "This time of year is great. When the schools are on holiday everything runs on time."
I was thinking that just as my bus failed to turn right where it should have. This provoked a couple behind me to start shouting. The driver repsonded with a very nonchalant "I'll just turn right here then..." and then took us on a very picturesque detour, nowhere near the bus-stop that I wanted though.
He did let me out when I asked though. Not 5 minutes from home, as it would have been IF he'd gone the right way. More like half an hour. And all uphill.
