Barack Obama- Inauguration in Times Square, NY

I went into NYC to see the Inauguration of Barack Obama on a big screen in Times Square. The crowd was unbelievable- not only for its size, but even more for its diversity and energy.
I arrived at Times Square alone and wound up leaving with friends.

Thomas, an African American boy whose mother let him stay out of school today so he could be a part of history.

Monique, an Asian immigrant who felt just as patriotic as anyone else in the crowd.

Nequa, an African American woman who kept shouting, "It's about time!"

Cathrine, an old Australian woman who wore a colorful hat with four American flags which she attached to it using an Obama button, who shook and cried with anticipation while our new President delivered his inaugural address.

A Texan who just moved to NY with her husband.

An Indian woman who never stopped crying.

A photojournalist who was so amazed by the images in front of him that he didn't even know what to take a picture of next, and eventually he put his camera down and just enjoyed it.

An African American woman whose name I never asked for, but who hugged me when Obama delivered his oath, crying "Thank God Almighty!"
