A Yorkshire Rose

White roses close to my heart......!

I planted three white Iceberg roses under the pergola and they have bloomed and blossomed in profusion over the summers past and present. Intertwined with clematis Jackmanii, a deep purple, the sprays froth gloriously giving off a subtle perfume in the heat as you brush passed and go underneath the arch. They have battled and survived floods, gales and more recently torrential rain and although currently a bit the worse for wear you have got to love them!

A symbol of Yorkshire since the fourteenth century when King Edward III's son Edmund having being created Duke of York adopted it as his emblem. The white among other things being a symbol of joy and glory! Appropriate and I love them ..............

...because I'm a Yorkshire girl!
