Witches Butter

This morning a couple of friends came round for coffee and a chat - it was lovely to catch up with them.

This afternoon I went for a very muddy walk on Oswestry Racecourse and around the lanes. There's been a lot of rain after the snow and all the grass was waterlogged.

I saw this Witches Butter growing on a fallen gorse branch, it has a number of names including Orange Gorse Fungus, Jelly Fungus and Yellow Brain Fungus. Apparently it's a parasite that feeds on the wood decay fungus which is on the dead branch. Apparently it's edible but totally tasteless so not a lot of point in eating it I would have thought!
