The Joy of Six

Falkirk FC kicked-off their first home fixture of 2018 in ninth, and second-last, place in the SPFL Championship. At the end of today's match against Dundee United they were still in ninth place. However, that doesn't begin to tell the story of the afternoon.

Despite going a goal down to the visitors in only six minutes, the home team then scored six goals in the remaining 84 minutes - a 6-1 win being the Bairns' best result in ages. To score six goals in one game is astonishing enough, especially given the season we've had until now, but even more remarkable since we had scored only 12 goals in the previous 18 matches of this league season.

In truth, Falkirk could, maybe even should, have scored more: we hit the bar twice, the post once and the United goalkeeper made two or three excellent saves. But I'm not complaining!

I am one very happy Falkirk fan tonight. Let's hope it's not a false dawn and that our league position improves.
