In The Car Park

Three of us had a great day in Preston today. Every year Wilkinsons put on the Digital Splash Photographic Show. We were very keep to look at lenses and printers and it was so good to be able to talk to knowledgeable staff.

We really enjoyed the seminar on "Wildlife" with Charlie Hamilton-James, from the BBC series My Halcyon River. Lots of "Ooos"s and "Ahhhh"s.

"Landscape" photography was done by Will Cheung , editor of Advanced Photographer magazine, who encouraged us all to do 365 projects as the best way to improve our skills and mentioned Blipfoto by name, asking if any of us took part. Chippy missed this session but, 2 seats away from me was Kathb. Will was great in showing us how even a town rubbish bin is worth photographing, but we blippers knew that!

Finally we had "Portraits" with John Clements who dealt with lighting for portraiture using Speedlights and soft boxes with the help of an attractive young model.

All the sessions over-ran, making it difficult to make the best of our time, however it was a very worthwhile visit.
